TAMAYO DIEGO HAS BEEN AWARDED WITH AUTHORITY THE 1ST EDITION OF THE TITAN TROPIC
The Colombian biker has been seconded on the podium by the Spanish Ibon Zugasti and Roberto Bou, winner of the last stage held on Thursday in Cayo Jutias. With this victory, Tamayo became the first rider to get the double crown, which means the Gaes Titan Desert by Garmin and Titan Tropic Cuba by Gaes in the same year.
Its dominance in the Caribbean race has been total, winning two stages and wearing the orange leader jersey from the start. Only Spanish Ibon Zugasti, second overall and José Luis Carrasco, winner of two stages in Viñales and finally fell off the podium for stomach problems, could eclipse a bit the great protagonist of this first edition in this tropical race.
Roberto Bou, from Barcelona, aged 22 and third in the overall classifications, has inscribed his name on the winners of the competition winning the final stage, crossing the finish line with Tamayo after a long break along the 68 kilometers that had the final day.
With regard to the women, the Cuban Olga Anabel Echenique has reaffirmed her status as top-ranked, and at 21, she was able to celebrate her dream home victory.
After the race, all participants have taken a bath in the Caribbean Sea and forget hardness, especially the rain and mud, which they have been suffering them for almost one week.
